FINE-S - high-velocity hydrogen
Who said efficiency was boring? With hydrogen fuel cells below the deck for a low center of gravity, and independent 4-wheel control for exceptional drivability, the Fine-S is the shape of what's to come.
FT-HS - hybrid
FT-HS - hybrid powertrain meets sports-car fundamentals
Pairing a potent hybrid powertrain with essential sports-car fundamentals, the FT-HS is a mid-priced sports car that integrates ecology and emotion in a concept that addresses the question, "What is a suitable sports car for the 21st century?"
Boasting a powerful V6 3.5L engine, the FT-HS is coupled with Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive® to produce a target power output of approximately 400 horsepower and a projected zero-to-60 acceleration in the four-second range. At a mid-priced market position, the FT-HS would be a true "attainable exotic" with 21st-century performance.
A sculpted front and rear remove mass around key functional components, while the roof has a distinctive scooped-out section designed to reduce aerodynamic drag and provide head room at the key areas.
The FT-HS's interior features create a dedicated driver's cockpit that includes a cross-car instrument panel structure and delta-wing driver pod. An integrated instrument panel surrounds the driver, creating an enclosed pod effect. Armrests flow seamlessly into the door and surrounding interior. Seating is optimized for a lightweight appearance and function: The seating accommodates four and then converts to a two-seater when the roof retracts.
A-BAT
A-BAT - modern versatility in a compact pickup
The A-BAT offers customers the versatility of hauling a standard 4x8 sheet of plywood one day, then taking a family on a camping trip the next. It features a four-foot bed with more flexibility than the standard pickup truck. The translucent roof panel slides open to allow for tall cargo in the cab; and the bed lengthens an additional two feet when the pass-through midgate is folded down into the cab.
The rugged exterior of the A-BAT is contrasted by the four-passenger modern interior. The door trim, shoulder, armrest and instrument panel pads and seat cushions are made of a tough, lightweight and comfortable material that can be selected for personalization. In addition, the colors are coordinated to enhance the sleek interior environment.
Inside, the A-BAT has a retractable, portable navigation unit with a seven-inch diagonal screen and Wi-Fi Internet. Other advanced features include a port for portable device assistant synchronization and a hard drive for digital music. The solar panels on the dash recapture energy from the sun to assist in the charging of the navigation unit, portable power pack and backlit information displays.
CS&S
CS&S - a hybrid to make your heart race
The CS&S is a 4-wheel-drive mid-engine 2+2 sports car. Employing Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive,® an electric motor drives the front wheels, while a gas engine and electric motor in combination drive the rear. CS&S also unveils "Toyota Space Touch," where the driver selects functions by "touching" holographic projections.
F3R
F3R - style, performance and three rows of comfort
The essential Toyota values of roominess, style and environmentally advanced performance come together in a dynamic new way in the F3R.
The F3R's three-row seating is useful and versatile. Up front, the driver's seat reclines and swivels, and the passenger seat reclines to form a comfortable chaise. In the middle, the right and center sections of the 40/20/40 second-row seats fold into the floor, and the left-hand seat reclines fully to form an avant-garde sofa in the third row.
To enhance the F3R's utility, seating in transport mode is stadium-style with each row just a little higher than the row in front. The two track-mounted flat-panel video screens allow the vehicle's occupants to enjoy movies or games whenever they want in complete comfort.
The design makes use of environmentally sensitive materials, in keeping with the theme suggested by the Hybrid Synergy Drive® badging on the vehicle. These materials include floor panels made from Ecoresin, a specially formulated resin that can be recycled; and a simulated-leather seating material called Mythos that, unlike most plastics, does not produce the harmful chemical dioxin when burned.
FINE-N
FINE-N - revolutionizing automotive design
The Fine-N hints at the coming revolution in automotive design by employing an advanced fuel-cell system. It touts an innovative package and fresh styling made possible by its fuel cell layout and four in-wheel motors
FT-EV
FT-EV -
concept electrifies Detroit Auto Show
At the 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, the world got its first look at Toyota's FT-EV, a battery electric vehicle (BEV) concept. You may be asking, why are we showing this advanced-technology vehicle now, just as we are debuting the all-new Prius? Well, the answer at Toyota is simple: right place, right time, right vehicle.
We believe there is no single solution to our future mobility challenges. What is the right vehicle for Tokyo right now might not be the best product for Kansas City today or Madrid next year. One thing is certain: Even in this difficult time for our industry, we must continue to look to the future. We are maintaining our pace for developing advanced technologies and exploring many technology options for future mobility.
We see the FT-EV concept as a great vehicle for the urban commuter. It is ideal for someone who drives fewer than 50 miles a day, mostly on flat surface streets, and has easy access to recharging options, such as a personal garage or a recharging station on a city street. While this vehicle will be perfect for the urban setting, it might not be the best solution for the rural dweller. This is why we continue to look at various technologies, such as the compressed natural gas Camry Hybrid concept that was shown at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The FT-EV shares the platform of the Toyota iQ, a lightweight, 4-passenger micro-car that is on sale in Japan and Europe. This version is white with gold and silver design accents and a flared front and rear. With its lithium-ion battery, it will reach a top speed of 70 mph.
Look for more information in the future on the launch of an urban-commuter BEV coming to market in 2012.
HYBRID X
HYBRID X - sustainable mobility for modern families
The Hybrid X rewrites the design rule book for hybrid models with unconventional creative solutions that could become the norm for future hybrid designs. A key concept is Vibrant Clarity - a design ethos grounding all design work in a unique and emotionally vibrant identity that speaks clearly of Toyota. Offering sustainable mobility for modern families, the environmentally advanced technology is another step closer to Toyota's vision of a zero smog-forming emission future.
Designed as a multi-sensory experience, the futuristic exterior shape of the Hybrid X offers unconventional fusion of thought through a clear and visionary insight to the interior. Inside the car, the driver sets the mood using an internal interface that controls lighting, music and even smell via a perfume diffuser. Technological innovations in interactive navigation, driving information and comfort control allow complete driver control at the touch of a screen.
Fitting with the ecological technology at the core of Toyota's vision of the future, Hybrid X offers not only an environmentally advanced driving experience, but a completely innovative way of providing comfort.
